Hey friend,
For a decade, before "calm discipline" was ever a phrase I used, I was a project manager. Here's something I've never forgotten: the most impactful projects I ever ran were never the complicated ones. They were the purposefully simple ones and they allowed room for creativity where it actually counted.
I don't think that's just a project management thing. I think it's a motherhood thing too.
This week wraps up the whole "simplify" series I've been doing on the podcast, and this week's episode let me pull out my old project manager hat. Turns out the management of a home and a project break down the exact same way — you find the one thing that keeps snagging, fix it, and a few others loosen up on their own.
I've got a simple challenge for you this week: what keeps popping up as "a thing" in your house, week after week, in almost the exact same way? Name that one thing. Then notice an unnecessary expectation that you've set for yourself and retire it. Just one.
Nobody else will notice or care and that's kinda the whole point. Boring is underrated, friend.
Cheering you on,
