did you think yesterday was Monday too?

Hey friend,

Are you feeling behind this week too? With Monday being Memorial Day, I have been a day off in my head the past couple days.

I almost forgot to write this note just because my habits have convinced me that today is Monday (I draft these emails to you on Tuesdays).

And I know that sounds like such a small and silly example, but I oftentimes just feel "behind" in life. Do you ever get like that?

Behind on the house.
Behind on goals.
Behind on routines.
Behind compared to other mom friends.
Behind compared to where we thought we’d be by now.

And even when we do get things done, that uneasy feeling doesn’t seem to really go away. I have great routines and rhythms for our household where things get done, but for some reason I feel like I can't stop.

I had to go to scripture for this because I've honestly just had enough of feeling this way. I think efficiency has its place in managing our time well, but if having a solid routine still isn't bringing rest to your soul, we have to figure out how to get to the root of this inability to just be still.

That’s exactly what we’re talking about in this week’s episode:

Ep 31 | Why You Always Feel Behind as a Mom (Biblical Time Management for Christian Moms)

Listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify

Inside this episode, I talk about:

  • Why the feeling of “being behind” usually has a deeper root
  • How comparison quietly shapes our expectations
  • What Jesus says about worry in Matthew 6
  • Why anxiety-driven productivity never actually brings peace
  • The questions that’ve been helping me reset lately

When we constantly feel behind, it’s worth asking: Behind what? or Behind who?

This question really convicts me as someone who sometimes struggles to slow down and savor life.

I’m realizing more and more that this feeling of constantly needing to “catch up” usually reveals that I am not living for the audience of One. And that's a hard pill to swallow and hard to admit to you. But I always want to be transparent. I don't have every little thing figured out. I need Jesus just like you.

Lately, I’ve been noticing that so many of the conversations I’m having with moms seem to circle around the same kinds of things:

  • burnout
  • feeling behind
  • overcommitment
  • anxiety-driven productivity
  • comparison
  • struggling to slow down
  • constantly feeling mentally “on”

So as I've spent time in scripture the last couple months on this topic, I've been trying to figure out WHY ARE WE LIKE THIS? Why do we say we want to slow down, but we simply choose not to?

These are the kinds of conversations I want to keep exploring more deeply in the coming months with you. So I’d genuinely love to know:

What do you feel like you’re struggling with most in this season?

You can just reply with a simple one-word response if you want: burnout, overcommitment, feeling behind, comparison, lack of discipline, etc.

I really do read and respond to every email, and hearing what you’re walking through helps me create content that serves you well.

Cheering you on,

P.S. If you have a friend who is struggling with feeling behind, be sure to forward her this email so she can be encouraged by this week's episode 🤍
